(9) Nine of Swords

You’ve had nights when the mind wouldn’t quiet. Worries looping louder in the dark. Fears that felt certain at 3 a.m. and fragile by morning.

That’s the Nine of Swords. The spark caught in its own storm. The hidden air turning against rest.

You’ve felt it in the spiral of “what if.” In the regret that grew teeth after midnight. In the body tense under blankets while the world slept.

The swords aren’t real blades. They’re thoughts given too much power.

Upright, the Nine is that intense mental suffering. The day anxiety felt like truth instead of visitor. The warmth still there, only buried under the mind’s noise.

Reversed, the storm begins to lift — the thoughts losing their grip, or the exhaustion of carrying them too long. The spark is still safe, only waiting for dawn to show the blades were shadows.

Either way, morning always comes. The swords fade with the light.

A gentle folly prompt for when the path feels heavy: Write one night worry on paper tonight — then tear it up, burn it safely, or tuck it away with “this is not forever.” Let the hand remind the mind who serves whom.
